Total Chaos Coming to Nintendo Switch 2

Total Chaos will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on April 29. The game will offer performance options at 1080p and 720p resolutions. It will be priced at $24.99.

Total Chaos, which made a significant impact last year, is set to terrorize a new platform, Nintendo Switch 2, with its release on April 29. This first-person survival horror game was initially developed as an ambitious mod for Doom 2 and later transformed into a standalone title with higher production values. Now, fans will not have to wait long to return to the haunting Fort Oasis.

The game is already available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, making its way to Nintendo's hybrid console as a new platform for horror experiences. According to the press release, Total Chaos will run at 1080p in docked mode and 720p in handheld mode. Additionally, it will feature selectable performance and unlocked-framerate modes targeting 60 FPS. While it remains unclear how many modes and performance settings will be available, having several options is always a plus, especially considering the variable refresh rate capabilities of the console's screen.

One of the most interesting features mentioned is the inclusion of "Joy-Con 2 mouse and gyro controls" from the start. Metroid Prime 4 served as an excellent example of how Joy-Con 2 mouse controls can enhance FPS games on the platform, but they have been severely underutilized thus far. If the 60 FPS target is achievable, this could provide the perfect way to experience a survival horror game that is faster-paced than many, thanks to its Doom 2 roots.

Total Chaos Coming to Nintendo Switch 2

The Switch 2 version will offer full version parity, bundling all post-launch content updates when it releases. These include New Game+ (featuring an alternate ending), a new relentless stalker enemy type known as the Hunter, and more. Speaking from personal experience, having enjoyed my time with the game on PC, I can confidently say that this is a survival horror ride worth revisiting with gameplay tweaks.

Total Chaos will be available for $24.99 on the Nintendo eShop, with pre-orders going live today in North America. At the time of writing, a physical version has not yet been announced. This may disappoint players who prefer to purchase physical copies, but the rise of digital distribution is making these types of games more accessible.

Compared to other survival horror titles, Total Chaos offers an impressive experience in terms of dynamics and atmosphere. Its fast-paced structure, rooted in Doom 2, ensures that players remain in a constant state of tension. This enhances the atmosphere, which is a critical element for survival horror games.

Total Chaos is not just a game; it is also a success story for the development team. Starting as a mod, this project evolved into a substantial independent title. The development team has consistently listened to player feedback, which has helped them build a strong connection with their audience. Such interactions are becoming increasingly important in the modern gaming industry.

In conclusion, the release of Total Chaos on Nintendo Switch 2 is an exciting prospect for both new players and existing fans. With its promise to deliver a fresh take on the survival horror genre while leveraging the potential of Nintendo's hybrid console, this game is set to provide players with a thrilling and terrifying adventure like never before.
